The Llanberis path
Grading: Moderate
Time: 3 hours to the summit for a reasonably fit person - allow 1.5 - 2 hours for the descent
The Llanberis path starts in the village at the end far end of Victoria terrace opposite the Royal Victoria Hotel. This is a the longest walk and will take a reasonably fit person about three hours to reach the summit and around two to three hours for the descent. This is possibly the easiest walk and accessible directly from the village. There is a wide path which winds through the valley above Llanberis which steepens towards the summit.

From the end of Victoria terrace cross over the cattle grid and follow the tarmac road passing a cafe on the left to reach a gateway. continue through this until the path and a gate can be seen on the left. This marks the start of the Llanberis path. Passing through another gateway later and under a small bridge where trains of the Snowdon mountain railway pass overhead. After 1-1.5 hours you should reach halfway house where there is refreshments and toilets. Continue along the path to reach the start of a steep section. Which is in the process of being stepped. At the top of this you pass under another bridge which is close to Clogwyn station. Good views from here of the Llanberis pass with a very steep drop to the valley.

The next section takes you from the bridge to another steep section which contours above the rail track and eventually arrives at the finger post which marks the junction with the PYG track and Crib Goch. Fantastic views from here of the Crib goch ridge and down the lakes of Glaslyn and Llyn Llydaw. Continue 15 to 20 minutes from the finger post along the pathway which runs almost parallel to the rail track to the summit cairn. Relax and enjoy the views or visit Hafod Eryri for some refreshments.

In bad weather conditions the Llanberis path, although the longest is possibly the safest way down from the summit. Providing you keep to the path. From the finger post the rail track will be on your left until you reach the brige at Clogwyn station. This could also provide some shelter.
