Mountain conditions around Llanberis

You can reach the summit of Snowdon by train or on foot. If you choose the latter then the choice lies with one of the six main paths that lead to the summit. Three of which are easily accessible from the village of Llanberis. Please be aware of the weather which can change very quickly and catch out walkers who are not prepared for deteriorating weather conditions.

Suitable clothing and footwear should be always worn, and protective equipment, food, drink, map and compass carried on mountain walks. There are many accidents and fatalities every year on Snowdon, please do not be one of them.

Conditions

The high pressure which has dominated the Snowdonia region for the past week has now given way to a more stable weather pattern. Possible damp conditions in the morning with cloud and sunny periods in the afternoon. This is set to continue for the next few days.

The summit cafe is now open and the mountain train is now going to the summit station. So walkers can now relax on the summit and enjoy refreshments and the view.

The Llanberis mountain rescue team are a group of volunteers, all with full time occupations. Please do not call on them unless the situation is serious...
